The Schneider MT50H2 MasterPact Circuit Breaker Frame is a high-capacity air circuit breaker frame associated with the MasterPact NW50H2 platform. It is used in low-voltage power distribution systems requiring high current capacity and substantial short-circuit interruption performance.
The NW50H2 configuration supports a rated current of 5000 A and belongs to the H2 breaking performance category. Its rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity reaches 150 kA at 440 V AC, making it suitable for demanding main distribution applications in industrial switchgear installations.
The MasterPact NW50H2 is intended for large electrical distribution systems where high-current incoming feeders and main busbar protection are required. It can be integrated into compatible switchgear assemblies and used with appropriate electronic protection and operating accessories.
The circuit breaker supports three-phase power distribution and provides switching, isolation, overload protection, and short-circuit interruption functions when equipped with the corresponding protection configuration.
For replacement applications, engineers should verify the complete NW50H2 configuration, including rated current, breaking capacity, pole arrangement, mounting type, neutral position, control unit, and electrical connection requirements.

The MasterPact NW50H2 operates as an air circuit breaker that controls the electrical connection between the incoming power supply and the downstream distribution system.
During normal operation, current flows through the main contacts to supply connected electrical equipment. The breaker remains closed while the electrical conditions stay within the permitted operating limits.
When an overload or short circuit occurs, the associated electronic protection unit detects the abnormal current condition and initiates the tripping mechanism. The main contacts separate, interrupting the electrical circuit.
As the contacts open, an electrical arc forms between them. The air arc-extinguishing system controls and extinguishes the arc, allowing the breaker to interrupt the fault current within its specified breaking capacity.
The H2 configuration provides a rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity of 150 kA at 440 V AC. At 525 V AC, the corresponding value is 130 kA, while at 690 V AC it is 100 kA.
Typical Protection Sequence:
Incoming Power Supply → MasterPact NW50H2 Circuit Breaker → Main Distribution Busbar → Downstream Feeder Circuits
After a fault interruption, the cause of the trip should be investigated before resetting the breaker and returning it to service.
The MT50H2 serves as a main or feeder circuit protection component in compatible MasterPact NW50H2 low-voltage distribution systems.
In a typical industrial switchgear arrangement, the circuit breaker is installed between the incoming electrical supply and the main distribution busbar. It provides switching and fault interruption functions for high-current electrical circuits.
Its 5000 A rated current and H2 interruption performance make it suitable for installations with substantial electrical loads and high prospective short-circuit currents.

The associated MasterPact NW50H2 configuration has a rated current of 5000 A at 40 °C. This distinguishes it from the NW40H2, which has a rated current of 4000 A.
The H2 configuration provides 150 kA ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity at 440 V AC, 130 kA at 525 V AC, and 100 kA at 690 V AC.
The specified configuration is without a control unit. A compatible Micrologic protection unit must be selected according to the required overload, short-circuit, and other protection functions.
Verify the 5000 A current rating, H2 breaking performance, three-pole arrangement, fixed mounting configuration, control unit requirements, and switchgear connection layout. The neutral configuration and accessory arrangement should also be checked.
