The Epro PR6424/000-010+CON021 16mm Eddy Current Sensor+Eddy Current Signal Converter combines a non-contact eddy current sensor with a signal converter for rotating machinery measurement. The sensor detects changes in the distance between the probe and a conductive target, while the associated converter conditions the measurement signal for connection to machinery monitoring electronics.
This combination is suited to applications where shaft displacement, shaft position, or other movement-related parameters need to be monitored without physical contact with the rotating component. Typical equipment includes steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, and other critical rotating machinery.
Using the sensor and converter as one measurement channel simplifies the connection between the physical measurement point and the downstream monitoring system. The resulting signal can be used for machinery condition monitoring, alarm functions, and protection strategies.

The PR6424/000-010 sensor detects the distance between its sensing tip and a conductive target through the eddy current principle. When the monitored shaft moves, the distance between the sensor and target changes, producing a corresponding change in the electrical sensing signal.
The CON021 signal converter receives the sensor signal and conditions it for use by the connected monitoring electronics. This allows the physical movement detected at the shaft to become a usable measurement within the machinery monitoring system.
A typical signal path is:
Rotating Shaft → PR6424/000-010 Sensor → CON021 Signal Converter → Machinery Monitoring System → Alarm / Protection
The installation position of the probe and the condition of the complete signal path directly affect measurement quality.

The CON021 serves as the signal-conditioning interface for the eddy current sensor. It processes the sensor signal so that it can be used by the associated machinery monitoring electronics.
The combination can be used in rotating equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, and turboexpanders where shaft movement or displacement needs to be monitored.
The measurement is performed without physical contact between the sensor and conductive target. This allows shaft movement to be monitored continuously without introducing mechanical contact at the measurement point.
Check the probe position, sensor mounting, cable connections, CON021 connections, and downstream monitoring channel. It is also important to compare the measurement with actual machinery operating conditions to determine whether the abnormal signal represents a mechanical change or an instrumentation issue.
