The Epro PR6423/013-111+CON031 combines an 8 mm PR6423 series eddy current sensor with a CON031 eddy current signal converter for non-contact measurement of conductive machinery targets. The probe detects changes in the relative position between the sensing head and target, while the converter provides the signal-conditioning stage required by the downstream monitoring channel.
This combination is suited to rotating machinery where shaft movement must be monitored without physical contact. The PR6423/013-111 can be positioned close to a conductive shaft to detect changes associated with radial or axial movement, making the combination applicable to turbines, compressors, generators, pumps, and other rotating equipment.
The CON031 sits between the sensing element and the machinery monitoring system, creating a defined signal path from the mechanical measurement point to the monitoring electronics. This arrangement is useful where displacement or vibration-related information must be transferred into a larger machinery condition-monitoring or protection system.
During commissioning, the sensor and converter should be checked as one measurement channel while troubleshooting each stage separately. Probe mounting, target clearance, sensor cabling, converter connections, and the receiving monitoring input can all affect the final measurement.

The PR6423/013-111 detects changes in the distance between its sensing head and a conductive target using the eddy current principle. When the target moves relative to the probe, the electromagnetic interaction changes and produces a corresponding change in the sensor response.
For shaft monitoring, the probe is positioned near the conductive shaft. Radial or axial movement changes the sensing gap, and the resulting signal is passed to the CON031 signal converter for conditioning before reaching the machinery monitoring system.
Conductive Shaft / Target → PR6423/013-111 Sensor → CON031 Signal Converter → Machinery Monitoring System → Alarm / Protection
The complete channel depends on correct mechanical installation as well as proper signal conditioning. A loose probe, unsuitable sensing gap, damaged cable, poor converter connection, or downstream input problem can affect the measurement even when the sensor itself is functional.
The PR6423/013-111+CON031 forms the sensing and signal-conditioning front end of a machinery monitoring channel.
Rotating Shaft → PR6423/013-111 → CON031 → Monitoring System → Alarm & Protection

The PR6423/013-111 serves as the sensing element. It detects changes in the relative distance between the probe and a conductive target and passes the resulting response to the CON031 converter.
The CON031 provides the signal-conditioning stage between the eddy current probe and downstream machinery monitoring equipment, allowing the sensor response to be processed for the monitoring channel.
First check whether the probe mounting is mechanically stable and whether the sensing gap remains constant. Cable condition, connector integrity, converter operation, and electrical interference should then be investigated if the mechanical installation is satisfactory.
Document the existing probe position and connections before removal. After installing the replacement, verify the sensing gap, cable connections, CON031 interface, and final monitoring signal before placing the machinery protection channel back into normal operation.
