The Epro PR6423/013-030+CON021 combines an 8 mm PR6423 series eddy current sensor with a CON021 eddy current signal converter. The sensor performs non-contact detection of changes in the position of a conductive target, while the converter handles the associated signal-conditioning stage for the machinery monitoring circuit.
This combination is suited to rotating equipment where direct contact with the monitored component is undesirable. A typical installation places the PR6423/013-030 close to a rotating shaft, allowing changes in shaft position or movement to be detected during operation.
The CON021 forms the electrical interface between the sensor and the downstream monitoring equipment. The PR6423/013-030 detects changes in the distance between the sensing head and a conductive target through an eddy current measurement process. When the probe is installed near a rotating shaft, radial or axial movement changes the probe-to-shaft relationship and therefore changes the sensor response.
The sensor output is connected to the CON021 signal converter, which conditions the eddy current signal for the downstream measurement system. The resulting signal can then be evaluated by compatible machinery monitoring equipment.
