The Schneider TSXDSY16T2 Modicon Premium Discrete Output Module provides 16 protected solid-state output channels for controlling 24 V DC devices from a compatible Modicon Premium PLC. Its transistor outputs switch DC loads according to the controller’s application logic, supporting machine sequences that coordinate actuators, indicators and auxiliary control circuits.
Each output has a rated current of 0.5 A, with a maximum current of 0.625 A per channel. The total current across the module must remain within 7 A. These limits are important when multiple outputs operate simultaneously, particularly in control panels where solenoids, indicator devices and other DC loads share the output supply.
The TSXDSY16T2 incorporates output overvoltage protection using a transil diode, reverse-polarity protection and electronic overload and short-circuit protection. Its screw-terminal block supports direct field wiring. During commissioning, technicians should verify the load current, wiring polarity, output status and protective behavior to distinguish field-circuit faults from module-related faults.

The TSXDSY16T2 receives switching commands from the Modicon Premium PLC through the system backplane. When an output is commanded ON, its solid-state transistor circuit conducts and supplies the connected DC load according to the module’s positive-logic output arrangement. When the command changes to OFF, the output stops conducting, subject to the specified residual voltage and leakage current.
Each channel is rated for 0.5 A, with a maximum channel current of 0.625 A. The combined module current must not exceed 7 A. The control-panel design should therefore consider both the current drawn by individual loads and the total demand when several channels are active at once.
Protection functions address different electrical faults. The transil diode protects against output overvoltage, the reverse-mounted diode provides reverse-polarity protection, and electronic protection responds to overload and short-circuit conditions. A protective trip may require the fault to be cleared and the output reactivated before normal operation resumes.
During troubleshooting, technicians should check the PLC output command, 24 V DC supply, terminal polarity and load current. If a channel fails to drive its load, inspect the connected device and wiring before replacing the module. Low-current loads should also be evaluated against the specified OFF-state leakage current and residual voltage.
The TSXDSY16T2 serves as the discrete DC output interface between a Modicon Premium PLC and external control devices. The PLC application evaluates sensor inputs and operating conditions, then issues output commands to the module. The module switches compatible DC loads while its protective circuits address specified electrical faults.

Use 0.5 A as the rated output current for load selection. The 0.625 A figure is the stated maximum channel current and should not be treated as the normal continuous design target. Also verify that the combined current across all active outputs remains within 7 A.
The module uses electronic protection that trips under specified overload and short-circuit conditions. Remove the fault and check the connected load and wiring before reactivating the output according to the applicable system procedure.
The output has a specified OFF-state leakage current of up to 0.5 mA and a residual voltage below 1.2 V. Some sensitive loads may respond to small residual currents, so check the load’s input characteristics and consider an appropriate interface if necessary.
BMXDDO1602 belongs to the Modicon X80 platform, so replacement involves a platform migration rather than a simple module exchange. Verify controller and rack compatibility, terminal and cable arrangements, output addressing, electrical ratings and required PLC configuration changes.
