The Schneider TSXDEZ12D2 Modicon TSX Micro Discrete Input Module collects 24 V DC signals from field sensors and switching devices for processing by a compatible Modicon TSX Micro PLC. Its 12 input channels support both positive and negative logic, giving the module flexibility when connecting PNP or NPN proximity sensors and other compatible discrete signal sources.
The module uses a screw-terminal connection arrangement, making it suitable for installations where individual field wires are terminated directly at the I/O module. It can acquire signals from proximity sensors, limit switches and other switching devices used to detect machine position, component presence or operating states.
With configurable input response times from 0.1 to 7.5 ms, the TSXDEZ12D2 can support machine-control sequences that depend on timely detection of input transitions. The actual system response also depends on PLC processing, application logic, sensor characteristics and the selected input configuration.

The TSXDEZ12D2 monitors the electrical state of its 12 input channels. When a connected sensor or switching contact changes state, the module evaluates the signal against its input thresholds and makes the recognized state available to the PLC application.
The module accepts 24 V DC signals using either positive or negative logic. In positive-logic applications, the ON state must meet the specified minimum voltage and current requirements, while the OFF state must remain below the defined voltage and current limits. Negative-logic applications use the corresponding reversed signal convention. The selected logic arrangement must match the connected field devices and wiring.
The configurable response time ranges from 0.1 to 7.5 ms for transitions in either direction. Input filtering helps determine how the module handles changing signals, while the PLC program processes the resulting input states according to the machine sequence. The complete response time therefore includes more than the module’s input response alone.
When an input behaves inconsistently, technicians should compare the sensor’s output voltage and current with the module’s guaranteed logic thresholds. Incorrect logic selection, unsuitable sensor leakage characteristics, loose screw terminals or unstable field power can all lead to missed or false input states.
The TSXDEZ12D2 serves as the field-signal acquisition interface in a Modicon TSX Micro automation system. It converts electrical states from compatible sensors and switching devices into input information that the PLC can use for machine sequencing, operating-condition monitoring and alarm logic.

The selection must match the electrical output behavior of the connected sensors and the field-wiring arrangement. Check the sensor’s PNP or NPN type, ON-state voltage, OFF-state voltage and current characteristics before configuring the input logic.
Possible causes include sensor leakage current, residual output voltage, an incorrect logic arrangement, wiring faults or a signal that does not fall below the module’s guaranteed OFF-state limits. Measure the signal at the input terminal before changing the PLC program.
It matters when input transitions must be recognized within a specific machine cycle or when signal noise needs to be filtered. A faster setting may improve response to short transitions, while the overall control response also depends on PLC processing and application logic.
Compare the input logic, electrical connection, channel wiring and supported sensor arrangements. The two references have different connection or input-logic characteristics, so verify the terminal layout and PLC configuration before transferring the existing wiring.
