The Schneider STBDDI3725 is a Basic Digital Input Module for the Modicon STB distributed I/O platform. It handles discrete field signals and transfers their ON/OFF status to the island bus, where the network interface module makes the data available to the PLC or PAC controller.
This module fits applications where conventional digital feedback is required from field devices such as push buttons, selector switches, proximity sensors, limit switches, auxiliary contacts, and machine interlocks. The STBDDI3725 receives discrete electrical states from connected field devices and converts those states into input data for the STB island bus.
A typical signal path is:
Field Device → STBDDI3725 → STB Island Bus → Network Interface Module → PLC / PAC
When a connected field device changes state, the corresponding input channel detects the electrical condition. The module places the channel status on the island bus, allowing the network interface module to exchange the input data with the control system.
In a machine sequence, these inputs can represent conditions such as guard-door status, cylinder position, motor auxiliary feedback, operator commands, or sensor detection. The controller then uses the received states for logic execution, sequencing, alarm handling, and interlock processing.
The STBDDI3725 normally sits at the field I/O level of the control architecture rather than directly performing control logic.
