The combination forms a measurement channel that detects relative movement between a conductive machine target and the sensor, then conditions the resulting signal for use by compatible monitoring equipment.
The PR6423 sensor is typically positioned near a conductive shaft or rotor surface in applications where direct mechanical contact would be unsuitable. It can be used to observe shaft displacement, radial movement, axial position, or vibration-related changes on turbines, compressors, generators, motors, and other rotating equipment.
The CON021 signal converter handles the interface and conditioning stage between the sensor and the downstream monitoring system. Keeping the sensor and converter as a defined combination helps maintain the intended measurement arrangement during installation, replacement, and troubleshooting.
For maintenance teams, an abnormal signal should not immediately be attributed to the sensor. Probe alignment, target condition, installation gap, cable connections, converter operation, and the receiving monitoring channel should be checked as a complete measurement path.

The PR6423 sensor operates by generating an electromagnetic field around its sensing tip. When the probe is positioned near a conductive shaft or target, eddy currents are induced in the target. Changes in the target-to-probe distance alter the electrical response of the sensing circuit.
The resulting sensor signal is transferred to the CON021 signal converter, which conditions the signal for the receiving monitoring equipment. The downstream system can use the conditioned measurement for shaft position, displacement, vibration-related monitoring, alarm, or protection functions according to the installed system configuration.
