The Epro PR6423/01M-010 8mm Eddy Current Sensor is a non-contact sensor used to monitor the relative movement of conductive targets in rotating machinery. As part of the PR6423 Series, it can be incorporated into measurement channels for observing shaft displacement, position, and vibration-related movement.
The sensor is installed close to the monitored shaft or another suitable conductive target. Changes in the relative distance between the sensing head and target alter the eddy current response, allowing the associated electronics to detect mechanical movement without physical contact with the rotating component.

The PR6423/01M-010 generates an electromagnetic sensing field at the monitored target. When a conductive shaft moves relative to the sensor head, the interaction between the field and target changes, producing a corresponding change in the electrical response of the sensing circuit.
A compatible driver or signal-conditioning device processes this response and converts it into a measurement signal for the monitoring system. The downstream system can use the signal to observe shaft position, displacement, or vibration-related movement.

The sensor can be applied to rotating equipment where non-contact measurement of a conductive target is required, including turbines, compressors, generators, motors, pumps, and similar machinery.
The sensor-to-target gap should be established according to the requirements of the complete monitoring system and associated electronics. It should not be selected solely from the nominal sensor diameter.
Movement of the sensor mounting can change the relative sensor-to-target distance just as shaft movement does. Loose mounting, vibration of the support structure, cable forces, and changes in target geometry should therefore be investigated when unexpected readings occur.
The sensor operates as part of an eddy current measurement chain. The associated driver provides the electrical interface and signal conditioning required by the monitoring system, so sensor and driver compatibility should be confirmed before commissioning a replacement.
