The Schneider TSXDEY16FK Modicon Premium Discrete Input Module acquires 24 V DC signals from field sensors and switching devices and transfers their states to a Modicon Premium PLC. Its 16 isolated fast inputs make it suitable for automation tasks where the controller must respond to changes in sensor status, machine interlocks or position-related signals without relying solely on standard cyclic input processing.
The module uses positive logic and is compatible with supported 2-wire and 3-wire sensor arrangements. Its HE-10 connector allows field signals to be connected through a suitable pre-wired cable or interface assembly, helping organize wiring between the control cabinet and distributed machine devices.
A key capability is its support for event-triggered processing. When an input transition meets the configured conditions, it can initiate an event task in the PLC application. This is useful when certain signals require prompt handling, such as detecting a machine position, monitoring a fast-moving sequence or responding to a specific sensor transition. Actual response behavior depends on input filtering, PLC configuration and the application program.

The TSXDEY16FK monitors the electrical state of each connected input channel. When a field sensor or switching device changes state, the module evaluates the signal against its electrical input thresholds and makes the resulting state available to the PLC system.
The module’s specified response time ranges from 0.1 to 7.5 ms. The selected input filtering and application configuration affect how quickly a signal transition is recognized. For signals configured to trigger event processing, a qualifying input transition can initiate the corresponding PLC event task, allowing the application to handle selected events separately from its ordinary cyclic logic.
Input wiring must match the module’s positive-logic arrangement and electrical limits. Sensors should provide valid logic levels, and their residual voltage and leakage current must remain within compatible limits. Incorrect sensor selection or unsuitable wiring can cause missed transitions or false input states.
During commissioning, each channel should be tested against its actual field device. Input LEDs and PLC status monitoring can help determine whether a problem originates in the sensor, cable, connector, module configuration or application logic.
The TSXDEY16FK acts as the discrete field-signal acquisition layer in a Modicon Premium PLC system. It collects sensor and switching-device states, makes those states available to the controller and supports event-based processing for selected fast signals.

The module supports event-triggered processing for configured inputs. When a qualifying transition occurs, the PLC can execute the associated event task rather than waiting for the signal to be handled only through ordinary cyclic logic. The actual behavior depends on the CPU, program configuration and input settings.
Verify the sensor output type, positive-logic compatibility, operating voltage, output current and signal levels in both ON and OFF states. The module requires valid input levels, so sensor leakage current and residual voltage should also be considered when troubleshooting false or missing transitions.
The physical input may be recognized while the PLC address mapping, input masking, event configuration or application logic prevents the expected action. Check the channel assignment and PLC status first, then review the associated logic and event-task configuration.
Choose another input module when the application requires a different input voltage, logic type, channel count, connection method or response behavior. Before changing models, verify rack and CPU compatibility as well as the field wiring and program changes required by the replacement.
