The Epro PR6424/002-010+CON021 combines a PR6424 series 16 mm eddy current sensor with a CON021 eddy current signal converter, forming a complete sensing interface for non-contact measurement of relative movement between a rotating machine component and the stationary probe.
The PR6424/002-010 operates at the machine side of the measurement chain. It generates an electromagnetic field around the sensing area and responds to changes in the conductive target, typically a rotating shaft or other metallic machine component. The CON021 receives the sensor signal and provides the corresponding interface for the machinery monitoring system.
This sensor-and-converter combination is useful where the probe alone is not sufficient for direct integration into the plant monitoring architecture. Keeping the sensing element and signal-conditioning/interface electronics as a matched pair helps establish a defined signal path from the machine to the monitoring system.

The PR6424/002-010 and CON021 operate as two connected stages of the same measurement chain.
1. Electromagnetic field generation
The PR6424 sensor establishes an electromagnetic field in the area immediately in front of its sensing surface. The probe does not need to physically contact the monitored machine component.
2. Interaction with the conductive target
When the probe is positioned near a conductive metallic target, such as a rotating shaft, eddy currents are induced in the target. The electrical response of the sensing circuit changes according to the relationship between the probe and target.
3. Signal conversion
The electrical signal from the PR6424 sensor is transferred to the CON021. The converter provides the required signal-conditioning/interface stage so that the measurement can be incorporated into the wider machinery monitoring system.
4. Monitoring-system integration
The converted measurement is then available to the associated monitoring or control architecture. Changes in the measured shaft-related movement can be observed and evaluated as part of machinery condition monitoring.
Sensor → Electromagnetic sensing → Conductive target interaction → CON021 → Machinery monitoring system
Because the measurement is non-contact, the sensing arrangement can monitor rotating components without introducing mechanical contact between the probe and the shaft.
The PR6424/002-010+CON021 occupies the front end of an Epro machinery measurement chain. The sensor establishes the physical measurement relationship with the machine, while the CON021 provides the signal conversion/interface stage before the measurement reaches the monitoring system.

The CON021 serves as the signal conversion and interface stage associated with the PR6424/002-010 sensor. It allows the sensor measurement to be integrated into the applicable machinery monitoring architecture rather than treating the probe as a standalone component.
Eddy current sensing allows the measurement relationship with a conductive rotating target to be established without physical contact. This makes the technology suitable for monitoring shaft-related movement in rotating equipment.
The probe-to-target relationship, sensor mounting, cable routing, converter connection, and compatibility with the monitoring system should all be checked. Mechanical vibration and changes in the sensor mounting position should also be considered during commissioning and maintenance.
Potential causes include incorrect probe positioning, changes in the mechanical relationship between the sensor and target, damaged or poorly connected cabling, connector problems, or issues elsewhere in the monitoring signal chain. Troubleshooting should therefore examine the sensor, wiring, CON021 interface, and monitoring input as a complete measurement path.
