The Epro PR6423/010-110+CON021 combines a PR6423 eddy current sensor with a CON021 signal converter for non-contact measurement of shaft movement in rotating machinery. The sensor provides the mechanical measurement at the machine, while the converter handles the associated electrical signal interface.
The PR6423/010-110 sensor is positioned close to a conductive shaft or target surface. During operation, changes in shaft position alter the distance between the sensor head and the target. The eddy current sensing circuit detects this change without requiring physical contact with the rotating component.
The CON021 processes the sensor signal so it can be used by downstream machinery monitoring equipment. This combined configuration is suitable for measurement channels where shaft displacement, radial vibration, or relative position needs to be continuously observed.
Typical installations include turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, and other critical rotating equipment. The sensor is installed at the required measurement point, while the converter and monitoring electronics form the downstream portion of the measurement chain.

The PR6423/010-110 generates an electromagnetic field at the sensing head. When positioned near a conductive rotating target, eddy currents are induced in the target. The electrical response varies according to the distance between the sensor and target surface.
When the shaft moves because of radial vibration, axial displacement, or other mechanical changes, the sensor-to-target gap changes. The CON021 receives the sensor signal and provides the associated signal conversion for the monitoring channel.
Rotating Shaft → PR6423/010-110 Sensor → CON021 Signal Converter → Machinery Monitoring System → Alarm / Protection
The complete channel can be used for:
Mechanical stability at the sensor mounting point is important because unwanted sensor movement can be interpreted as a change in shaft position.
The combined sensor and converter assembly forms the front-end measurement portion of a rotating machinery monitoring channel. The sensor detects the physical shaft movement, while the converter processes the sensor signal before it reaches the monitoring system.
Machine Shaft → PR6423/010-110 → CON021 → Monitoring Module → DCS / Protection System
| System Element | Function |
|---|---|
| Rotating Shaft | Provides the conductive measurement target |

It is used to detect changes in the distance between the sensor and a conductive rotating target, supporting measurement of shaft displacement, vibration-related movement, and relative shaft position.
The PR6423/010-110 is the eddy current sensing element installed near the monitored target. The CON021 is the associated signal converter used to process and interface the sensor signal with downstream monitoring equipment.
It is suitable for rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, motors, and other equipment where continuous shaft movement monitoring is required.
The sensor mounting, sensor-to-target gap, cable connections, CON021 interface, and downstream monitoring channel should be verified. Signal stability should also be checked during initial machine operation.
