The Schneider LXM23AU04M3X Lexium 23 Motion Servo Drive is a 400 W AC servo drive used to control compatible servo motors in industrial motion-control applications. It operates from a single-phase 200–255 V AC supply and includes CANopen communication, allowing it to exchange motion commands and operating data with a compatible controller.
This drive is suited to machine axes that require controlled acceleration, repeatable positioning and regulated motor speed. Typical applications include packaging machinery, automated assembly stations, material-handling equipment and compact production systems where servo motion must follow a programmed sequence.
The LXM23AU04M3X supports position, speed and torque control modes. Its CANopen interface provides a communication option for networked motion systems, while pulse-based control can be used in compatible configurations. The appropriate control method depends on the controller, application requirements and drive parameter settings.
When selecting a replacement, engineers should check the complete model number, motor electrical ratings, encoder feedback, control method and communication interface. The Lexium 23 family includes drives with different power ratings, so a physically similar unit is not necessarily an electrically compatible substitute.

The LXM23AU04M3X regulates the electrical power supplied to a compatible servo motor according to the selected control mode. The drive processes the motion command, evaluates motor feedback and adjusts its output to achieve the requested movement.
In position-control applications, the controller specifies the target movement using the configured command interface. The drive compares the requested motion with the feedback information and regulates the motor response. In speed-control mode, it maintains the commanded rotational speed within the limits of the motor and drive. Torque control instead regulates the motor’s torque-producing current according to the configured command and operating conditions.
For example, a packaging machine may use a servo motor to move a product feed mechanism through a repeatable distance for each production cycle. The controller sends position commands to the drive, and the motor encoder supplies feedback. The drive adjusts motor output to follow the required motion profile while the machine controller coordinates the feed axis with other operations.
During rapid deceleration, energy can return from the motor to the drive’s DC bus. Where the application requires additional energy dissipation, a suitable external braking resistor can be incorporated according to the drive’s electrical specifications.
Correct operation depends on matching the motor, encoder feedback, command interface and control parameters. Incorrect motor selection or feedback configuration can cause alarms, unstable motion or failure to achieve the requested position.
The LXM23AU04M3X acts as the power-conversion and motor-regulation stage between the machine controller and the servo motor. It receives motion commands, controls motor current and processes feedback to regulate the axis.

Select a servo motor whose rated power, voltage, current and encoder interface match the drive. The motor’s inertia and the machine’s acceleration requirements should also be considered when sizing the complete axis.
Yes. The drive supports CANopen communication, as well as pulse-based control in compatible configurations. The selected method depends on the controller, network architecture and drive parameter settings.
A braking resistor may be needed when deceleration or repeated changes in speed return energy to the drive’s DC bus faster than the system can accommodate. Selection must follow the drive’s permitted resistance and power specifications.
Check the motor and encoder compatibility, feedback wiring, command scaling, control parameters and mechanical coupling. Also review the drive’s active alarms and the motion profile to determine whether the issue originates in the electrical configuration or the machine mechanics.
