The Siemens 6AG1521-1FH00-7AA0 is a SIPLUS S7-1500 Digital Input Module used to acquire discrete signals from field devices and make their states available to the S7-1500 control system. It is suited to applications where switches, sensors, contacts, and other binary devices need to be monitored by the PLC program.
As part of the SIPLUS S7-1500 family, the module can be applied in automation systems that require enhanced environmental suitability compared with standard industrial modules. Typical signals include equipment running status, limit-switch feedback, valve positions, protective contacts, and interlock conditions.
The module sits between field-level discrete devices and the S7-1500 CPU. Input states are acquired by the electronics and transferred into the PLC process image or associated input data, where the control program can use them for sequencing, interlocking, diagnostics, and equipment monitoring.

The module receives binary electrical signals from connected field devices and converts their states into input information that can be processed by the S7-1500 CPU. Depending on the connected device, an input represents a defined state such as ON/OFF, open/closed, running/stopped, or active/inactive.
Once an input state has been acquired, the S7-1500 system makes the information available to the control program. Logic can then use the signal for machine sequencing, permissives, interlocks, alarm conditions, or status monitoring.
In practical operation, the module provides the interface between discrete field wiring and the PLC’s digital control logic. Correct signal wiring and appropriate input configuration are therefore important for accurate state detection.

The module is a digital input module intended for binary field signals. Typical applications include monitoring switches, contacts, sensors, equipment status, and interlock signals.
The module is installed as part of the S7-1500 system and transfers acquired digital input states to the CPU. The PLC program can then use those states for control logic, sequencing, interlocking, and diagnostics.
Check the field device, wiring, terminal connection, field-side power, channel assignment, and module diagnostics. If the field signal is present but the PLC input state remains unchanged, the hardware configuration and channel condition should also be reviewed.
A standard digital input module should not automatically be treated as a safety input. If the application requires a safety function, the complete safety architecture and the appropriate Siemens fail-safe hardware and configuration must be used.
