The Epro PR6423/010-120-CN is an 8 mm eddy current sensor used for non-contact measurement of shaft movement and relative displacement in rotating machinery. It is suited to monitoring applications where the sensor must detect mechanical movement without physically contacting the rotating component.
The sensor can be installed near a rotating shaft to monitor radial movement, shaft position, or vibration-related displacement. Typical equipment includes steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, and other machines where shaft condition is continuously monitored.
Eddy current sensing is particularly useful in machinery protection because the measurement is taken directly between the probe and the conductive target. The sensor can therefore monitor changes in shaft position while avoiding mechanical wear associated with contact-type sensing elements.
In an installed monitoring system, the PR6423/010-120-CN works with the associated driver or signal conditioning electronics and a machinery monitoring system. Probe installation, target material, cable condition, and the sensor-to-shaft relationship all affect measurement stability.

The PR6423/010-120-CN uses eddy current sensing to detect changes in the distance between the probe and a conductive rotating target. The probe generates an electromagnetic field toward the shaft. When the shaft moves relative to the probe, the electrical response of the sensing circuit changes.
The associated driver or signal conditioning electronics converts the sensor response into a usable measurement signal. A machinery monitoring system can then process the signal for displacement, vibration, alarm, or protection functions.
Rotating Shaft → PR6423/010-120-CN Sensor → Eddy Current Driver / Signal Conditioning → Machinery Monitoring System → Alarm / Protection
For accurate measurements, the probe position must remain mechanically stable. Changes in probe mounting, cable condition, or the sensor-to-target relationship can affect the observed signal and should be considered when troubleshooting abnormal readings.
The PR6423/010-120-CN functions as the field sensing element in an eddy current measurement chain. It detects shaft movement at the machine and sends the sensing information to the associated electronics for conditioning and monitoring.

The sensor is suitable for rotating machinery where non-contact shaft movement measurement is required. Common applications include turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, and other critical rotating equipment.
The sensor measures the relative condition between the probe and conductive target. Mechanical movement of the probe, incorrect positioning, or an unstable mounting arrangement can therefore introduce measurement changes that are unrelated to the actual shaft condition.
Check the probe mounting, sensor cable, connectors, associated driver, and monitoring-system input first. If the electrical installation is normal, compare the signal with actual machine operating conditions to determine whether the change corresponds to genuine shaft movement or vibration.
The sensor should normally be used with its appropriate eddy current driver or signal conditioning electronics rather than being treated as a conventional standalone analog transmitter. The complete sensor, driver, and monitoring-system interface should be checked before connecting it to a control or monitoring input.
