The card converts a discrete command generated by DeltaV control logic into the corresponding output state used by the field circuit. It therefore sits between the control strategy and the physical device being commanded.
The displayed control state does not necessarily prove that the complete field circuit is functioning. The output card, terminal connections, wiring, interposing relay, power circuit, and actuator should be checked individually.
Applications with clearly defined operating states are typical, including valve open/close commands, solenoid energization, equipment start/stop functions, relay switching, and discrete interlock actions.
The replacement should be checked against the existing DeltaV I/O configuration, channel assignments, field connections, and diagnostic state. Representative output operations should then be tested to confirm that the intended control sequence is preserved.
